exhibits with lots of cranks to turn, knobs to twirl
and buttons to push. Throughout 3,000 m2 of
exhibition space arrayed on three levels, visitors
encounter five forms of renewable energy in ways that
are totally innovative and lots of fun.
The Basic Principles of Energy
During this lead-in to Welios’ encounter with energy, you’ll find
out whether the shortest path is always the fastest one and why
energy never gets lost. Experience rings hitting the ceiling
and hands going through fire!

Solar Energy
Have you ever taken a bath in light? Feel how warm it gets at the focal point of a parabolic dish, and use the rays of the Sun to power solar aircraft.
Geothermal Energy
Set out on an imaginary journey to the center of the Earth to gain deep insights into the secrets of geothermal energy. Investigate geysers, magma flows and much more in Welios’ mountain landscape.
Wind Power
Build a wind power plant on a shaky foundation at sea and experiment with different wind turbine rotor designs right on Welios’ roof. Here things are really
flying high!
Hydroelectric Power
Lay back and relax in Welios’ bathtub and listen in on astounding stories. This waterscape takes a playful approach to how hydroelectric power plants work.
Biomass
Help deliver wood pellets and fill your vehicle’s tank with alternative fuels. Discover whether cars can run on rapeseed oil and some amazing aspects of photosynthesis in Welios’ in-house forest and meadow.

How does electricity make its way to our wall sockets?
What does music have to do with energy?
How can you generate energy while dancing or even just hanging around?
You’ll get answers to these and many other questions in some of Welios’other exhibition spaces.
