Winter
In the Salzkammergut, New Year´s Eve celebrations are very common. There is a New Year´s Eve party in the Town Hall Square in Gmunden, and there are various parties and dances round the lake.
Liebstattsonntag is something quite unique, which only takes place in Gmunden, on the fourth Sunday in Lent. Here, people present their loved ones with hearts made out of ginger bread, with verses and sayings written in icing sugar.
Also at Easter there are many traditional events in this region.
