cribs tour in Ebensee 2011/2012 „Gemma Krippö schau’n in Ebensee!“

The Salzkammergut area was all long the cribs area. Because of that, in the 19th century a new type of cribs came out in Ebensee, the „Ebenseer Landschaftskrippe“. At that time, simple but talented inhabitants – most of the time lumberjacks or saltern workers – understand to carve cribs figures. These talented people were named „Schnegerer“.

The rich in figures and often roomfilling cribs – most of them include more than hundreds of figures and in which the Crib-builder of Ebensee have worked in their beloved home, the landscape around Ebensee and the beloved creatures out of the „Hirtenliedern“ – these are typical „Ebenseer cribs“.

For those who want, they can make now a „Kripperlroas“, a tour from crib to crib.
