Carnival at lake Traunsee

The carnival activities in the holiday region of the Traunsee are very well known. The most well known is definitely the carnival procession in Ebensee. Here, everything will be made fun of, from political situations to local occurrences.

The high spot is the meeting of the "Fetzen" (people dressed in costumes made from colourful rags) at the Fetzen procession. Carnival is not only celebrated in Ebensee but also in Gmunden and Traunkirchen. On the last day in Ebensee, a symbolic figure representing the Fasching is taken to a gave and burnt.
