Museum for rural building and housing tradition of the 18th and 19th Century
From the outgoing 17th Century coming house of the farmstead " Egger obs Moos" in Altmuenster was torn away after detailed documentation 1996. In 1998, the reestablishment of the house on the today's location, on the Wiesenhof 69 (close to the SOS child village) startet. In August 2003 it was re-opened again as „Eggerhaus“ and serves since then on the one hand as museum for the rural housing tradition of the outer Salzkammergut , on the other hand as cultural and meeting centre of the municipality of Altmuenster. Is particularly remarkable the re-establishment of the original mechanism of early 18th up to outgoing 19th Century. The “Eggerhaus” is attached as scientific mechanism archives for the documentation of the historical, rural building culture with emphasis in Upper Austria.
To the Upper Austrian provincial exhibition 2008 an old “Stadl” was again established beside the “Eggerhaus”, in which larger meetings can be held weather-independently.
