

The contemporary history museum in Ebensee, close to the former concentration camp Ebensee (4 km distance) reminds of the political history of the "Salzkammergut" between 1918 and 1955. As a regional museum with national and international co-operation, it concerns with the historical developments and events of the region in the context of "the large history“.
House of history
The museum building in the "Kirchengasse" enclosure apart from the permanent exhibition a library, archives, a Cafeteria and a conference rooms and understands itself as open house of history. Meeting cycles, readings, scientific lectures and conferences promote discourses for a broad public. A part of the public representation is also the twice a year appearing magazine (concerns resisted) with contemporary and regional-historical contributions.
Supplying
The centre of the museum enterprise is the supplying activity. Contemporary history museum and KZ-memorial sight Ebensee are equipped as intending and learning place with a comprehensive existence of educational programs and projects, which are used in work with school classes and young people from all over Austria.

(November - mid June only on Tuesday and Friday)

For school classes and groups with more than 10 people, workshops and guided tours are offered in the museum after registration also outside the opening hours.

Opening hours :
1st May till 15th June and 15th till 30th September: Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
16th June – 15th September: Tuesday – Sunday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Notice:
For school classes and groups with more than 10 people, workshops and guided tours are offered in the memorial sight after registration also outside the opening hours. For the visit of the permanent exhibition in the tunnel, warm clothing is recommended (8°C temperature inside)
