Radio Museum in the "Feichtlgut"

Frank Hattinger has already collected over 400 show pieces, and he is still looking for old radios - he has plenty of space in his museum.

Radio Museum im Feichtlgut in Ohlsdorf bei Gmunden

From Edison Phonograph to Cola Radio

The exhibition is divided into various periods of time. It begins with the Edison phonograph with horn and cylinder and continues with crystal sets.
The era of ultra high frquency (FM) radios, the first portable radios to transistor radios.

The radio has always been fascinating, as it provides background music, relaxation, information, education and culture, and during its history, the radio has been present at all the most important events.

More than 100 years radio - more than 80 years broadcasting

This year is the 100th anniversary of Austrian radio. The first experiments with wireless communication were made in Austria at the beginning of the last century. In 1904, Otto Nussbaumer succeeded in the wireless transmission of word and music with the first radio in the world. On 1st October 1924, the RAVAG (Radio-Verkehrs AG), the predecessor of the ORF, started regular transmission.

These jubilees are another reason to visit Franz Hattinger´s museum. This unique collection of historic radio equipment gives one an extensive overview of the technical history and development of mass communication. Franz Hattinger has a story to tell about every exhibition piece. The technical history comes alive as Mr Hattinger will demonstrate each piece of equipment on request.

Opening times: viewing to be arranged by telephone
