Ebensee has an incredibly great hiking and walking area. Unfortunately, due to weather influences some trails are affected, so they must be locked for a while.
The affected trails can be found here.
CURRENTLY:
The following trails are not walkable at the moment:
- the path along the stream Schwarzenbach, which is called "Ursprungsweg", to the MITTERECKERSTÜBERL is currently closed because of acute danger of rockfall. Meanwhile the hut is reachable via the Winterweg through the forest.
- the path 427 from Rindbach up to the EIBENBERG is still closed. The climb is possible via the Hiaslalm (near the Offensee).
- the path 425 to the EIBENBERG via the Ascher-side is impossible or very difficult to access, too.
NEW GUIDANCE
- the former original route via the transition GRÜNANGERL to the Almtal (path 430) is impassable since the storm "Kyrill". There is a new evasive route - via the forest-road in the direction to the Gasselhöhle and then right.
All affected (hut hosts, alpine clubs, Austrian Federal Forests, tourist office Ebensee) try hard to make a lively exchange of information and to update the following websites
www.ebensee.at
www.ebensee.com
www.traunsee.at
So that all hikers and bikers can see the open and closed routes easily. Ebensee is a fantastic hiking-region. The many options are not always easy to assess (whether they are easy or difficult etc.).
The central information point is the tourism office Ebensee, telephone number: 06133/8016 - they know all paths and will give you advice cheerfully.
The Austrian Federal Forests try hard to execute all the clean-up as fast as possible.
